Contemporary Issues Level 4: High Intermediate

Catalog description
This course explores contemporary issues from local, national, and global perspectives and prepares students to become active participants in American university-level courses. Students reflect on their roles and challenges as international students studying in the United States. Course topics also serve as themes used to develop language skills in the other Level 4 courses. Students learn to think critically, communicate effectively in speech and writing, and listen and take notes during lectures. Through course readings, research, writing and oral presentations and discussions, students further develop their academic and language skills necessary for university success. Offered fall, spring and summer. Prerequisite: 2.50 semester GPA in Level 3 or equivalent.
