Trauma in Military and First Responders is the foundation course to introduce students to a comprehensive overview of core concepts related to understanding and addressing trauma, specifically with the Military and First Responders. The first eight weeks will provide a general overview to include a basic understanding of trauma, and trauma-related theoretical perspectives used to inform evidence-based assessment and interventions. The remaining eight weeks will include special considerations for Military and First Responders with topics related to the impact of combat related and trauma and surrounding systems; evidence-based tools for screening, assessment, and intervention; resilience; and the impact on the professional's response to trauma.
