Catalog description
This course covers techniques and methods of quantitative and qualitative social work research as they relate to social work practice with an emphasize on critical thinking, evidence-based practice and empirical evidence. This course will explore the following: hypothesis testing, research design, measurement, quantitative/qualitative data collection methods (surveys, experiments, single subject design and ethnography), ethics including development and research proposal. This course also covers descriptive and inferential methods of statistical analysis emphasizing measures of central tendency and dispersion, univariate, bivariate, multivariate analysis including tests of statistical significance and qualitative coding.
