Catalog description

This course focuses on the fundamentals of craft in each student's given genre: fiction writing, nonfiction writing, or poetry writing. The focus of the class is predominantly reading and responding to both canonical and contemporary examples of fiction, nonfiction, or poetry as well as reading examples of contemporary literary criticism and essays on craft. The goal is to produce a substantial body of original critical work that demonstrates the skill of reading like a writer. Taken four times altogether with optional three credits in another genre (only during student's second year in program)
