Reading in the Content Area

Catalog description

Learners will examine current research and instructional approaches that focus on enhancing disciplinary area reading skills. Students will examine the challenges secondary students face while reading, and how to identify content area reading demands. They will identify uses of narrative and expository text in the content area classroom, develop strategies that enhance student learning of domain vocabulary, and integrate reading skills in the content area classroom.
