Catalog description
This course introduces elementary education majors to the theoretical and practical issues involved in teaching the reading skills necessary for success in the various content area subjects, such as science, social studies, and mathematics. Topics will include literacy in the elementary classroom, assessment, technology and literacy, strategies for vocabulary and meaning instruction, study skills and writing in the content areas.
