Catalog description
This course offers an exploration of Colombia’s rich cultural, historical, and geographical diversity. Students will examine the country’s ethnic and linguistic heritage, its pre-Columbian civilizations, the colonial era, and the struggles for independence. The course also addresses key contemporary issues such as drug trafficking, armed conflict, peace processes, and environmental challenges. In addition, by studying Colombia’s literature, visual arts, music, and other cultural expressions, students will gain a deeper understanding of how artistic production both reflects and responds to the nation’s complex history.
