This course explores foundational and applied concepts of information and communication technologies (ICT) in contemporary nursing and healthcare practice. Students explore how electronic health records (EHRs), clinical decision-support systems, and emerging data technologies enhance the delivery of safe and high-quality care. Emphasis is placed on the nurse’s role in using health information and data analytics to improve outcomes, coordinate care, and promote individual, population, and global health. Through experiential learning and simulation assignments, learners apply ICT principles to evaluate quality, safety, interoperability, and ethical considerations. This course develops competencies in the effective use of ICT to gather data, generate knowledge, support clinical judgment, and foster technology-enabled, evidence-based nursing practice.
