Catalog description
This course will serve as an introduction to the anatomy and physiology of speech, hearing, and swallowing mechanisms, including anatomy and physiology of respiration, phonation, resonation, hearing, mastication, deglutition, neuroanatomy, and neurophysiology. This course covers prerequisite content required for students planning to pursue a higher-level degree in communication disorders, including speech-language pathology and/or audiology. Subject matter assumes no prior knowledge of anatomy and physiology. This course is of interest to students pursuing specializations in Linguistics, Autism Studies and Special Education.
