Catalog description

This course will introduce you to representative Black writers from Britain and Ireland. With a focus on postwar and contemporary British writers, the first half of the course provides you with an in-depth overview of the 20th - and 21st-century Black British writing. In the second half of the course, we will study the emerging Black Irish tradition with a special focus on spoken word poetry, rap, experimental drama and short stories.
