Catalog description

The realities of being a nurse will never be the same as the public’s imagination of the profession. Yet nurses are on the front lines of healthcare, an important social good, so their professional lives have long been the focus of fictions, memoirs, films and other visual mediums. In this course, we take a historical journey through the imaginative representations of nurses in the US and Britain. We will closely analyze novels, films, and some still visual images of nurses (postcards and nurse recruitment images).
