Catalog description
This course will study Irish literature from the perspective of Empire Studies; as such, it will not only locate Ireland and Irish literature in the context of the now defunct British Empire, but will also focus on the rise of neo-imperialism that has emerged in its wake and Ireland’s place within the 21st-century world system. Topics covered in this course include the colonization of Ireland, the Famine, and the 2008 financial crisis and immigration.
