Catalog description
This course examines the nature of government spending, the decision-making process, and trends. Throughout the course, students will learn about the major social safety net programs provided by the government including social security, medicare, medicaid, and unemployment insurance, and discuss public goods such as public education. Students will learn about taxation and investigate tax incidence and the welfare effects of taxation. Note: Can count towards the B.S. in Quantitative Economics with the completion of quantitative coursework and permission of the instructor.
