Saint Joseph’s University Behavior Change Procedures course (i.e., ABA 605 ) is part of a Verified Course Sequence and is designed to prepare students for the Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) examination, providing both the academic foundation required for certification and the applied knowledge and skills essential for professional practice. This course offers an in-depth examination of the application of behavior analytic principles across diverse child, adult, and health-related contexts. Students receive targeted training in key procedures, including reinforcement, punishment, motivating operations, modeling, stimulus control, rule-governed behavior, shaping, and chaining. Emphasis is placed on methods for teaching simple to complex repertoires through discrete trials, Skinner’s analysis of verbal behavior, group contingencies, and self-management strategies, as well as techniques to promote maintenance and generalization of behavior.
