Catalog description
This is an introductory course emphasizing the occurrence and distribution of geologic hazards (earthquakes, volcanoes, flooding, and slope failure) and geologic resources (soil, water, air, mineral, and energy). Topics includ e basic geologic processes such as the rock cycle and plate tectonics, how these geologic processes influence the occurrence and distribution of geologic hazards and resources, interactions between humans and the geologic environment, and problems associated with exploitation of geologic resources such as water and air pollution and climate change.
