Introduction to Literature

Catalog description
This course will emphasize reading, group discussion, critical thinking, research, and composition to develop analyses of literary texts. Through the reading of various literary genres, which may include fiction, poetry, non- fiction, and/or drama, students learn appreciation, comprehension, and enjoyment of literary texts. Students will study a selection of texts from major literary movements, with emphasis on Western and Native American canonical literature, in conjunction with the significant literary the ories, close reading practices, and examples of critical literary debates. Pre-requisite: ENG 101.
