Topics in Native American Literature

Catalog description

Examines the expectation and functions of narrative, poetry, and drama, and examines the ways in which the writing of Indigenous authors draws on, e xtends, and defies Western literary traditions. Analyzes literature through the critical lenses of colonization, society/culture, matriarchy, spirituality, feminism, Marxism, and other appropriate critical lenses. Topics for this course may include, Native American Women’s Literature, Anishinaabe Literature, and The Trickster in Native American Literature.
