Catalog description
Students complete 166 hours of supervised, directed practice demonstrating clinical medical assisting skills in a medical office or clinic. Emphasis on safety, infection prevention, regulatory compliance, professionalism, communication, cultural awareness, prioritization, office workflow, patient preparation and equipment set up to assist the physician with examinations, minor office surgery, data collection, measurements, vital signs, diagnostic testing, ECG's, PFT's, medication administration and patient rights, injections, venipuncture, capillary puncture, specimen collection, handling, bloodborne pathogens. Meets CCBMA,CA Med Board requirements for capillary puncture, injections and venipuncture skills training hours.
