Catalog description

This is a theoretical and experiential course that will introduce students to foundational and requisite addiction assessment, intervention, and treatment counseling skills. Students will be introduced to historical and etiological models of substance use disorders and process addictions. Self-exploration and professional issues in addiction counseling will be examined. Students will be introduced to various clinical documentation formats and evidence-based interventions. This course will introduce students to counseling skills needed to work with special and diverse populations as well as various treatment modalities.
