Examines the history of dress and the forces influencing contemporary fashion trends through the study of clothing, textiles, arts, and cultures of the past. It includes a survey of the evolution of dress from Ancient Egypt to the present day, investigating dress as a document of social record. The course delves into historical, artistic, socioeconomic, geographic, religious, political, psychological, and cultural influences on clothing design, textiles, and fashion across various civilizations worldwide. Formerly FASH 144.
