Examines the history of dress and the forces influencing contemporary fashion trends through the study of clothing, textiles, arts, and cultures of the past. It includes a survey of the evolution of dress from Ancient Egypt to the present day, investigating dress as a document of social record. The course delves into historical, artistic, socioeconomic, geographic, religious, political, psychological, and cultural influences on clothing design, textiles, and fashion across various civilizations worldwide.
