Catalog description

Designed to develop students into proficient and compassionate pre-hospital emergency professionals who conduct themselves with integrity and humility. Covers the cognitive, psychomotor, and affective aspects of Basic Life Support level pre-hospital care as identified in the National EMS Education Standards, including biochemistry, anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, assessment and treatment interventions, operations, administration, safety, and well-being. Students must achieve an overall final grade of 80% or above in EMT 407NC, and successfully complete all four clinical shifts in EMT 417NC, to be awarded a course completion certificate, which is required to take the National Registry EMT written examination and become certified as an EMT. Also satisfies Orange County EMT accreditation training requirements.
