Clinical Practice I

Catalog description
Students will spend two weeks assisting SSVM clinical services, performing the skills they have learned, practiced, during their first-year veterinary education. These skills include: restraint and handling, obtaining and documenting a medical history, and performing a physical exam. Students will also shadow and can assist the service in other ways during the elective, as determined by the supervising veterinarian and as appropriate for each case. This course can be transitioned to a peer-peer teaching course, where 4th year students are paired with 1st year students for the two-week elective. This course will also be useful as feedback for Clinical Skills training.
