Students will explore and practice musicianship skills with regard to melody, harmony, ear training, musical expression, and composition as they relate to live performance and theatrical creation. Some skills practiced in class include, but are not limited to, melodic and harmonic dictation, interval identification, solfege, singing, and chord analysis. The course also provides an overview of basic piano skills, major key signatures and scales, song form, and musical vocabulary in order to build a performing artist's tool kit for creating new theatrical pieces.
