Disparity, Systemic Inequality and Social Justice

Catalog description

This course establishes the commitment to human rights as a core foundational professional social work practice. Students will explore the professions’ early roots in social and economic justice and the forces of systemic oppression that maintain inequality. Students will develop skills to recognize and assess power and privilege and the intersection of cultural values, systems and structures in building equitable and inclusive communities, institutions, policies and interventions as a professional ethical mandate.
