Catalog description

This course examines research methodology and the scientific, analytical approach to gaining knowledge. Students are introduced to the entire research process: posing a research question; conducting a literature review; generating a hypothesis; identifying the different kinds of variables, ethical and political issues, gender and ethnic issues, measurement issues, questionnaire construction, sampling, data collection, coding, data analysis, and communication of results. At the graduate level student develop a literature review and design their own research proposal. This course is open only to social work majors.
