Catalog description

In SOC 08578 Community Institutions and Processes, building upon the Critical Legal Studies Movement, students will gain an applied approach to the social construction of communities and to community intervention strategies. They will examine their own dispositions toward social stratification by socioeconomic class, race, gender, disability (and more), to understand the need for becoming advocates, and they will explore the ways in which varied communities experience and function within mainstream societies.
