This course introduces students to the teachings, texts and practices of Islam. For 1400 years, Islam has remained connected to the Arabian peninsula while becoming a widespread and diverse global religion. Students will learn the origins and central teachings of Islam; they will explore some of the many varieties of the religion; and they will examine Islam as a way of life for its followers. This course fulfills the Rowan Core Global Literacy and the Rowan Experience Broad-Based Literature requirement.
