Catalog description

The primary purpose of this course is to present research on teaching reading and writing to students with disability labels, along with the appropriate methods and materials. Major topics include the nature and needs of children with disability labels who require more individualized assessment of reading and writing ability, emerging and adolescent literacy, the role of parents and the child study team, intervention strategies, settings for instruction, word recognition, comprehension, and study skill techniques appropriate for students with disability labels, adaptations of methods and materials, and organizational patterns.
