Catalog description
This is a one-semester course that will provide students with a detailed overview of the fundamental aspects of human physiology and pathophysiology, including the normal function of the human body and its major organ systems for patients across the lifespan. Understanding the normal physiologic processes will serve as a foundation for understanding altered health states and their therapeutic interventions. An understanding of the abnormal pathophysiology of disease and disease states is necessary to apply basic science knowledge to a clinical situation. This course will concentrate on the basic physiologic and pathophysiologic understanding of health, disease, and its clinical manifestations.
