Catalog description

The course focuses on the nursing care of children and adults with acute and chronic illness. The student's knowledge of professional nursing practice is progressed through the application of the program concepts of clinical judgment, patient-centered care, teamwork and collaboration, evidence-based practice, safety, informatics, leadership, and professionalism. The concepts related to individuals seeking care, health and illness, and the roles of a professional nurse are utilized to achieve a deeper understanding of the health promotion and illness management of these patients. The student will have the opportunity to apply these concepts when caring for patients in medical-surgical, perioperative, and pediatric clinical areas and in a simulated laboratory setting.
