Small Group Jazz Ensemble

Catalog description

Small Group Jazz Ensembles are designed to help students develop the skills necessary to perform in performer led ensembles. The ensembles range in size from three to six performers and rehearse once a week for fifty minutes. All groups perform in two concerts per semester. In the small group jazz ensemble students acquire the skills necessary to perform standard and original composition with and without the aid of written arrangements. All students are involved in choosing repertoire, creating arrangements, and leading rehearsal and performances. The ensembles are open by audition only.
