Catalog description

This course considers the ways literature participates in constructing and representing lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer identities, lives, and experiences. Students will apply the basic concepts of queer theory to a variety of texts in different literary genres, exploring how these works illuminate our understanding of gender and sexuality-based norms, as well as the cultural and social history of LGBTQ+ rights.
