Catalog description

This course explores the use of established elementary education content standards and pedagogical methods in social studies. The course introduces the students to the four domains of social studies: history, geography, economics and civics. Students apply current research on how children learn and on effective teaching methods in social studies. Students also apply instructional knowledge and skills they are developing related to inquiry-based, interdisciplinary instruction, assessment, and differentiation to the social studies content area.
