Modern Circuit Analysis and Design

Catalog description
This course focuses on the basic principles of direct and alternating current and on the properties of passive electrical components. The course covers atomic theory, current, voltage, resistance, resistive networks, network theorems, work, power, capacitance, inductance and transformers, 3-phase and high-power systems. Laboratory exercises include building circuits from schematics, using laboratory equipment to make measurements, and to verify theory. Emphasis is placed on connecting fundamental concepts of voltage, current, resistance, and power to real-world applications in electronics, energy, and communication systems. Circuit analysis software is used to simulate and verify the laboratory analysis where appropriate.
