This course reviews the historical background and current complexity of the global problem of human trafficking within the context of regional causes, cases, and consequences. Human sexual exploitation, labor trafficking, social and psychological isolation, and enslavement are the focus of study in this course. This course highlights the complexity of the trafficking problem through a systematic review of the global context of human trafficking. The social, economic, political, and psychological effects of human trafficking will be discussed, and its impact on homeland security. Moreover, the interaction among human services agencies, social workers, schools, law enforcement, government agencies, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in addressing the problem will be examined.
