Catalog description
This course introduces students to the basics of communication in organizations. The class will focus on traditional and modern theories of organizations, and will address contemporary issues of communicating in organizations, such as: power and ideology, feminine and masculine identities and race and sexuality in the workplace, branding and entrepreneurial self, leadership and management, new technologies and knowledge work, globalization, socially responsible corporations, and meaningful work. Through prompted discussions, application papers, and exams students will be tested on their understanding and application of the course concepts.
