Civil Engineering Design Project I

Catalog description
This is the first course in a sequence of two courses that provides a culminating design experience for teams of undergraduate civil engineering students. The student teams address a challenging design problem that includes site design, water resources engineering, environmental engineering, geotechnical engineering, structural engineering, and transportation engineering. This first course in the sequence focuses on team formation, proposal development, identification of key constraints and design issues, alternatives generation and evaluation, and permitting. Teams prepare proposals and document their work through progress reports and a final written and oral report of their recommendations.
