Catalog description

This studio course explores the complex art, design, theory, and practice of animation and related moving-image technologies. The course will explore animation’s historical and ethical contexts while applying them to different projects. By the end of the class, students will have a basic understanding of animation and be able to apply concepts such as timing, framing, relationship, perception, and the twelve principles to basic hand-drawn and digital animation platforms and software. Students will learn to examine animation from a variety of cultures and perspectives.
