Community Art Education for Elementary through Middle Grades

Catalog description

This course introduces teacher candidates to community‑based visual arts education through participation in Rowan’s Saturday Morning Art (smART) program. Students design and implement developmentally appropriate lessons for elementary and middle‑school learners, practice responsive classroom management, and gain experience preparing and exhibiting student artwork. Emphasis is placed on professional conduct, collaborative planning, and applying standards-aligned competencies in real teaching contexts.
