Catalog description

This advanced practice nursing course focuses on development of proficiency in the skills in obtaining a comprehensive health assessment of culturally diverse persons across the life span. Students will learn to conduct thorough interviews, perform physical examinations, and utilize diagnostic data to identify common health problems and acute conditions. Building on foundational assessment skills, the course emphasizes targeted techniques for evaluating abnormal findings and differentiating normal from pathological variations. Through clinical practicum experiences and case-based learning, students will address biopsychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs while refining diagnostic reasoning and formulating prioritized differential diagnoses. Experiential learning reinforces evidence- based strategies to support accurate clinical judgment and patient- centered care in diverse populations. (Includes 45-60 experiential hours). 4 credits didactic.
