Section information text: Material structure electronic levels and energy bands; semiconductor doping; optical and electronic material characteristics; p-n junction and diode characteristics. Laboratories on the crystal structure of semiconductors, optical and electronic properties of semiconductors, various electrical diode characteristics, and investigations of semiconductors and their packaging using x-ray microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. Students must do additional project work on a topic selected by the instructor. Cross-listed with PH 405.
