Section information text: This is an introductory course in statistics. Dual emphasis is placed on deriving statistical techniques and using the methods within data analyses. Study design and informative data summaries motivate the statistical inference techniques for linear models. Statistical thinking and communication skills are developed through analysis of data from a variety of fields. A statistical programming language is used for data visualization, analysis, and simulations. A student cannot take both MA 223 and MA 382 for credit.
