MA 371
Linear Algebra I
Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
Section information text: Similar to MA373, but with an emphasis on the theory behind matrices and vector spaces. Systems of linear equations, Gaussian elimination, and the LU decomposition of a matrix. Projections, least squares approximations, and the Gram-Schmidt process. Eigenvalues and eigenvectors of a matrix. The diagonalization theorem. The singular value decomposition of a matrix. Introduction to vector spaces. Some proof writing will be required. Those interested in applications of matrices and vector spaces should take MA373. A student cannot take both MA 371 and MA 373 for credit.
