Section information text: Covers the laws of thermodynamics, free energy, gases, phase equilibria and solutions. Emphasizes the applications of differential and integral calculus and includes an introduction to statistical thermodynamics and surface chemistry. The laboratory will meet for 4 hours on alternate weeks and will investigate topics associated with thermodynamics and phase equilibrium.
