Catalog description

This self-defense class will guide students to learn various self-defense skills, build self-confidence, self-discipline, concentration/focus and coping strategies. Students will learn various defensive strategies including kicking, falling, punching, throwing, and other self-defense techniques from various styles of martial arts. In this positive, safe environment, the class will teach proper use of hands and feet as weapons, how to fend off multiple attackers, as well as techniques that can be used against a person with various weapons. This class will help students improve coordination, balance, endurance, agility, flexibility and overall fitness. Current RIT Public Safety resources will be introduced as part of the curriculum. **Fee: A course fee applies via SFS bill.
