Wilderness Survival

Catalog description

This is an introductory course to wilderness survival using primitive skills. This class will take place outdoors, and will integrate natural conditions and seasonal changes into teaching (a.k.a rain or shine, day or eve). Students will learn time-honored mentoring techniques, cutting edge practices and traditional ecological knowledge to master an ancient understanding of their environment and their role within. Students will leave this course with a strong base in fire-building, shelter building, tracking and edible/medicinal plant I.D. to aidless navigation, hunting, wood carving, wild crafting and wilderness cooking and Leave-No-Trace ethics. *Note: See Course Notes for additional details on class meeting times.* **Fee: A course fee applied via SFS bill.
