Catalog description

This hands-on course builds on basic bicycle repair skills and is designed for students who already have some experience with bike maintenance. Using a provided bicycle mechanic textbook, students will deepen their understanding of key mechanical systems and practice more advanced repair and adjustment techniques. Topics include brake systems, drivetrain care, derailleur adjustment, hub and bottom bracket bearings, wheel truing, and other essential components. Emphasis is placed on proper tool use, troubleshooting, and developing the skills needed to keep a bicycle in safe, efficient working condition. Please note that bicycles manufactured before 1995 may require specialized tools not covered in this course. Note: See Course Notes for additional details on class meeting times.
