Catalog description

Lifeguarding RIT's Lifeguarding course is designed to provide students with a certification by the American Red Cross (ARC). Training consists of methods for individual rescue around and in the water. Basic skills and concepts will be presented. Objectives are: Successful completion and certification for each individual by the final class day. Prerequisites for this course include a continuous 500 yard swim and demonstrated accomplishment in the front crawl, side stroke, and breast stroke. *Note: Students are required to have or purchase a lifeguarding textbook. The course fee via SFS bill includes the required face mask. The textbook can be purchased at the RIT bookstore. * **Fee: A course fee applied via SFS bill.
