Krump: Street Dance and Freestyle Foundations

Explore the foundations of Krump, a high-energy urban street dance characterized by expressive, exaggerated, and highly dynamic movement. Rooted in self-expression, community, and cultural storytelling, Krump emphasizes endurance, emotion, and individuality. Students will learn the history and cultural context of Krump, as well as the foundational techniques, including stomps, arm swings, chest pops, and grooves. Additional concepts such as freestyle development, combinations, battles, call-outs, sessions, and hype will also be introduced. The course encourages dancers to channel emotions through movement while developing rhythm, strength, and confidence. The music associated with Krump draws from hip-hop but has evolved into its own genre, enhancing the dance’s unique energy and style. Open to all levels, no prior dance experience is required.
