Introduction to Antiracism

Catalog description

This course provides a basic introduction to antiracism and the ethical frameworks and practices of social justice and racial justice. Topics in the course will include colonization, power, privilege, oppression, marginalization, intersectionality, individual racism, systemic racism, white supremacy and antiracism, and will be approached through the use of theoretical frameworks, such as transformative justice, ethical leadership, racial equity and inclusion. With a focus on ethical decision-making, students will engage in self-analysis and reflection to develop deeper self-awareness in the areas of power and privilege, and to produce lasting and meaningful social change through the practice of antiracism.
